As I counted down the final moments of 2022, I couldn't help but feel grateful for all the joys, large and small, in life. This deep sense of gratitude I feel extends to the work we have been able to achieve at Lake Washington Schools Foundation, which earned us recognition as a valued community partner at November's LWSD Superintendent's Community Leaders Breakfast. | | | | | | | | Supporting Families In Need At Lake Washington Schools Foundation, we are committed to finding ways to help families in need and are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, we were able to contribute $50,000 in the fall to LWSD Families Helping Families, a district program that provides food vouchers to food-insecure students over school holiday breaks. As part of our efforts to remove barriers and promote student stability, we also donated $14,500 to Assistance League of the Eastside's Operation School Bell. These funds were used to directly support LWSD students facing hardship by providing them with new clothes and shoes, books, school supplies, medications, and groceries. | | | | | | | | LWSF Program Updates Find Your Fit is a resource to help students and parents understand the next best steps in the college planning process. Upcoming Events include: Kids Coming Together community service events are great opportunities for children grades 3-8 to meet new friends and connect with their community. Many mentors say that the rewards they gain from their mentoring relationship are as substantial as those for their mentees. Consider becoming a mentor and making the world of a difference to a local student. The Pantry Packs Program serves hundreds of food-insecure students every week through the distribution of weekend food packs. Over $1,400 was raised on Saturday, December 10, by a partnership of local businesses that care about Lake Washington School District students. Serious Pie Totem Lake, The Sweetside, and The Village at Totem Lake joined efforts to run a sold-out Breakfast with Santa event, with all proceeds benefiting local students through the work of the Lake Washington Schools Foundation. | | | | | | | | | | You May Be Eligible for Corporate Matching Gifts!
