Dear Friend,

Spring is fast approaching, which means it's almost time for our Be the Bridge Spring Benefit. Please reserve April 28 at noon for a livestream of entertaining and inspirational speakers. Can you be a sponsor or virtual table captain, or just want to stay posted? Click for more information.

This month, you put hundreds of smiles on the faces of LWSD staff in celebration of Valentine's Day. Thank you to all who reached out to thank our hard-working teachers and staff, raising over $17,000 for students in the process.

Did you know that LWSF sponsors Battle of the Books at all middle schools? This means that your generous donations enable 7,000 students in grades 6-8 to access high quality literature and experience the joys of teamwork and achievement.

Last but not least, you can rely on us to continue providing a steady dose of programs and events that nurture, connect, and empower our students. These include webinars and resources that promote mental wellness, community services events that encourage peer connection, weekend food packs distributed to hundreds of students, college planning webinars that prepare our high schoolers for their future, and caring adult mentors that provide emotional support to help elementary students thrive.

LWSF Sponsors Battle of the Books

For the third year in a row, LWSF is supporting academic enrichment and equitable access across the district through the purchase of books and eBooks for the Battle of the Books competition in all LWSD middle schools.

Battle of the Books is a district-wide reading competition that promotes reading comprehension, academic excellence, and cooperative learning and teamwork among students.

This investment enables 7,000 students in grades 6-8 to participate in the program each year.

LWSF Program Updates

Kids Coming Together community service events have resumed! They are great opportunities for children grades 3-8 to meet new friends and connect with their community. Register for upcoming events.

Pantry Packs is delighted to resume packing events for small groups of volunteers. In February, 2,329 weekend food packs were delivered to food-insecure students throughout the district. You can support our students by donating via our Amazon Wish List.

Find Your Fit is a resource to help students and parents understand the next best steps in the college application process. Register now for our College 101 webinar on March 15.

Balance in Mind hosts "Parent Chats" with mental-health experts to discuss pressing topics surrounding youth mental wellness. Upcoming Parent Chats include Well Body, Well Mind and Youth Susceptibility to Extremism: What Parents Can Do. Register here.

LINKS Lunch Buddies connects students with caring adult mentors. Many mentors say that the rewards they gain from their mentoring relationship are as substantial as those for their mentees. Consider becoming a mentor and making the world of a difference to a local student.

Valentine Recap

This year, for Valentine's Day, our community put more than 450 messages of appreciation on our virtual Wall of Love and sent more than 320 cards to teachers and staff.

Donations in honor of teachers and staff raised $17,800 to help LWSF pursue its mission to enhance academic access and nurture all students' emotional well-being.

Thank you for warming the hearts of so many hardworking teachers and staff members this spring. We are absolutely honored to have received your donation.
