Hunger doesn't take the weekend off.
More students than you might imagine in the Lake Washington School District go home to an empty pantry. These children struggle to find nutritious meals outside of school, especially over the weekend. How can a child focus on a lesson or take a test when all she can think about is making it to her next meal?
Thankfully, there's a way to help.
Join the Lake Washington Schools Foundation in supporting Pantry Packs, a local volunteer group that provides hand-packed bags of kid-friendly food to schools for discreet distribution to hungry students. Last year, Pantry Packs delivered more than 26,000 packs to needy students right here in our district. It’s an extraordinary effort that makes our community a healthier and happier place for all.
